LG Election: APA announces candidates
The Oyo State Chapter
of the African Peoples Alliance Party (APA) on Sunday unveiled its 11
candidates running for the May 12 local government council elections, promising
a fresh alternative to the ruling political party and to create “a new
generation of leaders in local government councils and wards the party is
contesting.
This was contained in a
press statement signed and issued by the State Chairman, Mr. Tolulope Adedoyin
and the State Secretary, Mr. Raji Babatunde to newsmen in Ibadan, the Capital
of Oyo State after a brief meeting of the state executive members of the party on
Sunday.
According to the
Chairman of the Local Government Election Planning Committee of APA who is also
the State Secretary of the Party, Mr. Raji Babatunde said APA is aiming to
ultimately mount an attempt to take power from the ruling party in all the
local government councils and wards the party is contesting.
“I want us to all go in
the same direction while each preparing to fight where we can.”
According to him, “Oyo
APA candidates for May 12 local government council election include:
Chairmanship Position: Adeyemo Oluwatayo Shina, Lagelu North LCDA, Babatunde
Olufunsho Adesola, Lagelu West LCDA, Oguntola Taiwo, Lagelu L.G, Iyana Offa,
Oyekunle Timothy Olulere, Ibadan North L.G, Olalekan Zainab Opeyemi, Oluyole
L.G, Raji Abideen Adewale, Ibadan North West Local Government, Okunola Asimiyu
Abimbola, Ibadan South East L.G, Popoola Mathew Adeoye, Akinyele South, LCDA.
Councilorship Position: Saka Gafar, Ibadan South West L.G, Ward 5, Afolabi
Oluwafemi, Ibadan South East LG, Ward 6, Oguntola Kehinde, Lagelu West LCDA,
Ward 6.
Speaking further on the
event, Mr. Raji Babatunde described those candidates vying for positions as
astute mix of experience and youthful energy and competent enough to represent
people of their wards, local government councils and LCDAs in the state.
