APA threatens court action against OYSIEC,
Gov. Abiola Ajimobi and APC
The African Peoples Alliance (APA) has
threatened court action against the Chairman of the Oyo State Independent
Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the All Progressives
Congress (APC) if they go ahead and swear in the defeated APC candidate, Mr.
Babatunde Ademola Somorin of Ward 5, Ibadan Southwest Local Government who
gallantly lost to our party’s candidate Mr. Gafar Saka with over 200 votes in
the just concluded local government election in the state.
APA, through a press release signed
and issued on Tuesday by the State Chairman and Secretary, Mr. Tolulope
Adedoyin and Mr. Raji Babatunde urged OYSIEC and Governor Abiola Ajimobi to
respect the wishes and interests of the voters who came out on Saturday to vote
for the APA candidate (their preferred choice), Mr. Gafar Saka and swear him in
on the official date picked to swear in the newly elected councilors.
The party however commended Governor
Abiola Ajimobi and the Executive Chairman of OYSIEC, Chief Ajeigbe for
conducting, credible, free and fair local government election which saw to the emergence
of her candidate, Mr. Gafar Saka as the duly elected Councilor of Ward 5 in
Ibadan South West Local Government.
