The controversy over the denial of the electoral right of the African Peoples Alliance (APA) Party Councillorship candidate who won the Ward 5, Ibadan South West Local Government councillorship election on the 12th of May 2018 has taken a legal twist as his party, African Peoples Alliance (APA) has dragged the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Mr. Babatunde Somorin, the defeated APC Councillorship candidate who was later swore in and his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) before the election tribunal sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan over the councillorship poll.
The case which was filed today 25th of May, 2018 has been assigned suit number LGET/OYS/IB/2/2018.

APA is asking the Court to declare its candidate, Hon. Gafar Saka, the winner of the local government councillorship election conducted in ward 5 of Ibadan Southwest Local Government of Oyo State of Nigeria on the 12th day of May, 2018.

The party also wants the court to prohibit Babatunde Ademola Somorin from parading himself as the winner of the local government councillorship election into Ward 5 of Ibadan South West Local Government Council of Oyo State of Nigeria.
